Going to the movies can be such a drag these days. Ticket prices make one weep, and people seem to think they are in their living room and not a movie theater where they have to, you know, BE QUIET. I refuse to go to the United Artist on Columbus Boulevard anymore as I like seeing movies minus gunshot wounds. Am I being dramatic? Only slightly.

The Roxy is an independently owned movie theater on 2023 Samson Street in Philadelphia. A small theater, it offers two movies at a time, one a mainstream commerical movie and one independent film. Tickets are only $8 as opposed to $10 and up! It is rarely crowded and you can actually enjoy a movie in relative silence! Wow!

The Roxy is not particularly kid-friendly either, which is certainly another bonus…unless you enjoy babies crying because they are seeing a 9:30pm film as opposed to being asleep.
