Hillary Swank No Longer A Vegetarian
Actress Hillary Swank said in a recent interview with Maire Claire magazine that she gave up her 18-year vegetarian diet two years ago because it was making her “unhealthy.” While it made her sad to go back on meat as cow’s eyes are “so soulful” Swank claimed she wasn’t getting enough vitamins or protein from vegetables and was getting too skinny.
Where to begin….try BEANS, SOY and HEMP MILK if you need protein, which along with veggies are much better sources of protein than animal protein. Animal proteins in a high protein diet will use up the body’s stores of calcium while non-animal proteins like veggies, beans, grains, and fruit act as “calcium savers.” They are also excellent sources of fiber, minerals, and vitamins. In terms of animal protein fish and poultry are the best sources, NOT the red meat Swank claims she “has” to eat. Red meat is, in fact, the worst source of protein there is as it contains so much saturated fat, the second-worst kind of fat after trans fat. It is also extremely difficult for the body to process, and therefore sits, rotting away, in your intestines for days!
It is also strange that Swank said she went back on meat two years ago after claiming she celebrated her last Oscar victory with “burger and fries.” Swank won her second Oscar four years ago. Hmm. But golly gee, those cows have soulful eyes.
While I can think of many things that will make you “too skinny” (anorexia, cocaine, crack, meth) a vegetarian diet is NOT one of them!!!!!
